“DaVinci Resolve for iPad is truly a revolution for post-production, ” said Grant Petty, Blackmagic Design CEO.

Supported file formats at present include H.264, H.265, Apple ProRes and Blackmagic RAW and can be stored on the iPad Pro, Cloud or USB-C media. The iPad version of DaVinci Resolve for iPad utilises standard DaVinci resolve project files which are fully compatible with the desktop version of the DaVinci Resolve 18. One feature that many pro editors will be pleased to see is the ability to send a clean feed to a grading monitor, be that an Apple Studio Display, Pro Display XDR or AirPlay-compatible display. To ensure maximum speed the new version of the software has been optimised for use with Apple silicon with accelerated results being possible with the new iPad Pro with M2 chipset. What’s more, the iPad version of the video editor makes full use of Blackmagic Cloud which will enable users to collaborate on projects easily.

The new version of the system brings forward a new way of working but still enables access to DaVinci’s tried and tested imaging technology, colour-finishing tools and updated HDR workflows. The iPad-optimised version makes full use of the tablet’s MultiTouch technology and Apple Pencil that all enable editors to intuitively edit video in a way that hasn’t previously been possible.

This new version of the popular desktop video editor has been optimised to enable creators to edit videos professionally on the lightweight iPad Pro. Blackmagic Design has announced the imminent release of DaVinci Resolve for iPad.
